Bayferrox iron oxide pigments are produced in the USA, Germany and Brazil by LANXESS. At each site, we have gone through the rigors of ISO certification, and have received ISO 9001-2000 certification. Besides the color properties of Bayferrox, their dispersibility is quite important for the paint, coatings and plastic manufacturers, and LANXESS was a pioneer in introducing micronized iron oxide pigments to the US. Today, a complete line of micronized, easy dispersible red, yellow and black pigments are available.

There are rheological advantages of our reds for plastics, and heat stability and rheological advantages for our yellows in paints and plastics. We also make several specialty pigments for specific applications. For example, Bayferrox 303T black and Bayferrox 645T brown are heat stable up to a temperature of 1000° C (1800° F) as dry pigments. These pigments work especially well in engineering plastics that require higher processing temperatures. We also produce a line of Colortherm® pigments. Colortherm 10 and 20 are after-treated yellow iron oxides that can withstand temperatures up to 260° C in coatings applications. Colortherm 30 is a lattice stabilized zinc ferrite that is then micronized on a jet mill. Therefore, this product shows excellent dispersibility in both coatings and plastics applications.
